I figured it’d be a good idea to write a quick About Me post now that I’ve got a few reviews up. Nothing too deep, just something to give people a little background about who I am, what this site is about, and the kind of stuff I like and don’t like. If someone finds this page and wants to know where I’m coming from, this is where they’ll get that. The overall vibe of this site is meant to be pretty casual. I’m not trying to act like my opinion is the final word on anything. I just like talking about stuff I enjoy (or don’t enjoy) and maybe giving people a different way to look at things. I’m doing this because it’s fun, and that’s really all there is to it.
Why I Made This Site
I wanted to make this site as a place to post my thoughts and opinions on stuff I’m interested in. I’ve been thinking about doing something like this for a while now, and after seeing people on TikTok sharing their takes and reviews, I figured now’s as good a time as any to actually do it. For me, this blog is more of an outlet than anything else. It’s where I can take how I feel about a game or a movie or whatever, and put it into words. And who knows, maybe I’ll come back to these posts one day and realize my opinions have changed. That’s kind of the fun part.
I don’t really expect people to agree with everything I write, and that’s fine. If anything, I just hope reading one of my posts gives someone a different perspective. If I really like something that you don’t, maybe the way I explain it makes you look at it differently. Or maybe not. Either way, I just wanted a space to say how I feel about stuff, and this site is exactly that.
What I Like
Outside of reviewing stuff, I’ve got a few hobbies that take up most of my time. One of the biggest is basketball. I’ve been playing since kindergarten and coaching for the past seven years. It’s something I’ve stuck with for most of my life, and I still love it just as much now. I also love watching the Lakers. I became a fan back in the 2010’s because of Kobe, and I’ve followed the team ever since.
Another thing I’m into is guitar. I’ve been teaching myself for almost two years now. Most of the time I just try to learn my favorite songs and mess around with different styles. It’s not something I take super seriously, but it’s become a big part of my routine and something I actually look forward to doing.
When it comes to media, I’m all about story. In games, if the story is good and pulls me in, it’ll always rank high for me. That’s usually what sticks with me the most. I also enjoy playing simulator games like PowerWash Simulator or Gas Station Simulator. Those are more of a cool down for me. On the flip side, I do like competitive games too, especially ones I can play with friends like Rainbow Six Siege or Marvel Rivals. I enjoy trying to climb the ranks and see how far I can go. One small thing I really love in games is when all the collectibles are marked on the map and nothing is missable. Getting the platinum for games is something I really enjoy, so when I don’t have to stress about missing 1 of the 3000 collectibles a game has, it makes that game so much better. In movies, I like heavy action. Stuff like John Wick or The Equalizer is right up my alley. The more action the better. When it comes to TV, I’m into sitcoms like Modern Family, but I also like darker, more serious stuff like Breaking Bad. For music, I usually stick to rock, grunge, rap, and hip hop. Lately I’ve been slowly getting into metal too, just seeing what sticks.
What I Don’t Like
There are a few things that instantly turn me off when it comes to media. The biggest one is a stupid plot. If the story just straight up doesn’t make sense or feels like no thought went into it, I can’t get into it at all. Same thing goes for bad editing or bad CGI. Obviously older movies get a pass since the tech wasn’t there yet, but when a modern movie has goofy, lazy effects, like Thor: Love and Thunder, I’m out. It completely pulls me out of it.
In music, I don’t like super long, repetitive songs. Everyone has that one song where it would’ve been way better if they just cut that last verse. Once it starts dragging, I’m not paying attention anymore. That’s usually where I end up skipping it. In games, I can’t deal with a bad control scheme, especially if you can’t rebind the controls. I don’t care how good the game is, if it doesn’t feel right to play, I’m done. There are also some genres I usually avoid. For movies, that’s comedies. They’re really hit or miss, and most of the time, the jokes just don’t land for me. I’ll still give them a shot now and then, but they’re never the ones I seek out. For games, I usually stay away from heavy RPGs like Baldur’s Gate 3. I know a lot of people love those, but they’re just not my thing.
Probably my biggest hot take is not liking Game of Thrones. I got about to the end of season 1 or the beginning of season 2 and just couldn’t stick with it. I found it pretty boring, even though everyone says it’s one of the best shows ever. Who knows, maybe I’ll end up giving it another shot someday. One small thing that always gets on my nerves is when songs repeat the same verse multiple times. Not just the chorus, that’s expected, but when verse one literally shows up again later in the song word for word, it just feels lazy. It can work in shorter, grungier songs, but most of the time, I notice it and it bugs me.
How I Write
The way I write is pretty simple, I just say what I’m thinking. It’s straight from my head to the site. I don’t overthink how I’m wording things or try to dress it up. I just put my thoughts into words as they come, and that’s it. I try to keep things simple. I’m not an expert or critic or anything like that, I’m just giving my take on stuff from my own point of view. If I like something, I say that. If I don’t, I say that too. There’s no sugarcoating or extra fluff.
The reviews I post are more for fun than anything else. It’s just how I feel about something at that moment. Maybe my opinion will change later after a rewatch or relisten. That’s fine too. I’m not trying to be right, I’m just being honest. So if you’re reading anything on this site, expect straightforward, no BS opinions. That’s the whole point.
Closing
I’ll try to post on here as much as I can. The goal is at least once or twice a week. I’ve got a bunch of stuff I want to talk about, and as long as it’s something I care about, I’ll probably end up writing about it. After reading one of my posts, feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think. If you agree with what I said, cool. If you totally disagree, that’s fine too. I’d actually love to hear different perspectives. Just keep it respectful, and I’m always down for a good back and forth. At the end of the day, I want this site to be a place where people can read no BS opinions and also feel like they can share their own. That’s what this is all about.
